ROBERT E. WILLIAMS

A memorial service for Robert E. Williams, Jr., 60, Oklahoma City, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N. Shartel, Oklahoma City. The Rev. Dr. Randall Spindle will officiate.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in an Oklahoma City hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born March 31, 1948 in Hominy, OK, the son of Robert Williams and Bettie Jane Hampton. His parents and a younger sister preceded him in death.

After his graduation from Hominy High School, he graduated from Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

Following his graduation from OSU, he joined the staff of the First National Bank in Oklahoma City. Later he joined the staff at the Penn Square Bank.

In 1980, he left banking to become a caterer. At the time of his death, he had developed one of the best known and most popular catering operations in Oklahoma City. Many of his clients became personal friends.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Gurley Williams, Oklahoma City, a daughter, Hunter Anne Brown and husband Todd, Oklahoma City, two grandchildren, Matthew Cole Brown and Ella Elizabeth Brown, both of Oklahoma City, and eight cousins: Kaye Hampton Jones and Jeff Jones, both of Duncan, Robert and George Williams, both of Stillwater, Ray Williams, Dallas, Marjorie Williams, Boulder, CO, Janalyn Geurkink, Norman and Judy Neville, Oklahoma City.

The family says those who wish make memorials to Tulakes Elementary School for the Robert's Books for Children fund, 6600 Galaxie, Oklahoma City, OK 73132.
