Robert Weddle

Services for Robert Soloman Weddle, 91, of Sulphur, formerly of Ada, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Jaymeson Kennedy will officiate. Burial will follow at Byrd's Prairie Cemetery with military honors performed by the Army and Chickasaw Honor Guard. The family with receive relatives and friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Weddle died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at a Sulphur Veterans Center. He was born October 16, 1925 in Rugby, Texas to Robert Bethel and Drama Loviana Vickrey Weddle.  He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1943.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Rhineland, Central Europe and was awarded the World War II victory ribbon, the good conduct medal, two bronze service stars, Army of occupation ribbon (Germany), the EAME Theater ribbon and the Sharp Shooter emblem. He was cook at Penergraft's, Parkview Café, the Aldridge, and Oak Hills Country Club. Mr. Weddle enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Roger Weddle and wife Cathy of Ada, Joe Weddle and wife Karen of Ada, Glenn Weddle and wife Jeanette of Stonewall, and Ricky Weddle and wife Dana of Seminole; one daughter, Janet Painter and husband Bill of Ada; sister, Florence Lester of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Weddle; two sisters, Hattie and Ethel and a great grandson, Keith Foley.
