Robert Earl
Ramer
April 20, 1933 – January 28, 2022
Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Ramer, 88, former resident of Ada, are at 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 1, at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm at the Marlow Cemetery in Marlow, Oklahoma. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Criswell Funeral Home.
Bob passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20, 1933, to Earl and Audie Ramer in Webber Falls, Oklahoma. He married Joyce Caveny on April 13, 1991 in Stratford, Oklahoma and they made their home in Ada (BeBe), Oklahoma.
Bob was a freight salesman working for several companies before retiring from J & M Cartage. He served in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded several service medals during his time in the service.
His true passion was his horses and his love for quail hunting. Bob was an avid quail hunter and enjoyed many trips to Western Oklahoma with friends throughout the years. Some hunts were successful while others not so much; however, he enjoyed every hunt. He was a member of The Living Legends and was a champion team roper and heeler, winning several championships on both the national and local level. His loving wife Joyce was always by his side during these competitions and his biggest supporter.
He was a cowboy at heart, a true living cowboy, spending many years doing what he loved – riding his horses, whether for pleasure or competition. He could always be seen in his signature hat, boots, starched and pressed Wranglers, and his monogrammed shirts, no matter the occasion. He turned many heads when walking into a room. He was even known to mow his grass and go quail hunting in his pressed Wranglers.
He took pride in his ranch west of Ada where he lived for more than 40 years. This was shown in the way he took care of his property and his manicured lawn and fence lines.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Ramer; father Earl Ramer; his mother and step-father Audie (Ramer) and Joe McDaniel; sister Nadine and brother Charlie.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; children Sharon and Ed Smith, Midwest City, OK, Randy and Tracy Caveny, Newcastle, OK, and Carolyn and Neil Brasel, Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Jennifer Burton, Moore, OK, Jami and Charles Glover, Yukon, OK, Chris and Amber Caveny, Blanchard, OK, Hayli and Christopher Snider, Newcastle, OK, Cindy Jones, Shawnee, OK and Chris Casady, Oklahoma City, OK; 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
