ADA- Services for Robert "Boots" Louis Golden, 91, Ada, are 10 a.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Abram Haley will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Golden died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at an Ada hospital. He was born April 26, 1922, near Jones Chapel to Murray Mark Golden and Grace Casey-Golden. He attended Jones Chapel and Union Hill grade schools and graduated from Vanoss High School. Mr. Golden served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later worked for Clarksburg Paper Company, Continental Can, Hazel Atlas and retired in 1978 from Brockway Glass Company. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Golden was a president of the Union Hill School Board and served on the Vanoss Alumni planning board. He received the Honorary Vanoss FFA Chapter Farmer Award, the Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association Award and the Pioneer Farm Ranch Award for Continuous Family Stewardship of the Land.
He and Roxie Marie Morgan were married Dec. 22, 1945, in Ada. She died March 26, 2011, in Ada.
Survivors include two children, Micheal Louis Golden and wife Betty, Fairfax, Virginia, and Lynda Kaye Golden-Callaway and husband Randy, Ada; four grandchildren, Robert Christopher Golden and wife Emily, Temple, Texas, Rebecca Dawn Carlin and husband Joshua, Ada, Sarah Ellen Golden, Temple, Texas, and Rachel Lynn Haley and husband Abram, Covington, Louisiana; two step-grandchildren, Janna Smith and husband Ivan, Ada, and Stephanie Callaway, Corinth, Texas; two great-great-grandchildren, Dallas Robert Golden and Miles Hankyeom Golden, Temple, Texas; two step-great-grandchildren, Lincoln Smith and Corbin Smith, Ada; two brothers, Sonny Alton Golden and wife Daisy, Ada, and Horace Hartwell Golden, Ada; a sister, Barbara Jane Davis and husband Mickey, Durant; a sister-in-law, Mildred Clinton, Kaufman, Texas; and more than 20 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Roxie Golden; brother, George Mark Golden; two sisters, Lolita Tucker and Lovena Morgan.
Bearers will be Robert Christopher Golden, Randy Golden, Wade Golden, Tyrell Low, Keith Davis and Joshua Carlin. Honorary bearers are David Golden, Mickey Davis, Ed Blake, Tom Blackwell, Johnny Barney, Gene Steele and Bill Osborne.
