BOBBY JOE BALTHROP

ADA-Services for Robert Milton "Bobby Joe" Balthrop, 61, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bobby Amos will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Balthrop died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at an Ardmore hospital. He was born January 10, 1948 at Lawton, Oklahoma to James Milton and Bertha Alice Muncrief Balthrop. He lived most of his life in this area and attended Byng schools. He moved back to Ada in 2005 from McAlester.

He married Cornelia Gibson on September 22, 1999. Mr. Balthrop was a construction worker and later a cab driver in McAlester. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Balthrop, of the home; two sons, Jeff Balthrop and wife Jennifer, Arkansas City, KS and Robert Aaron Balthrop, Ada; two daughters, Lisha Doughty and husband Jeremy, Greeley, CO and Morgan Balthrop, Ada; and five grandchildren, Damian Balthrop, Arkansas City, KS, Jordan Chism, Jonathan Gray, Arianna Boodhan, and Trinity Sipes.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Skyler Edge Balthrop, two granddaughters, Aleah and Mariah Burcaw, and a sister, Elaine Carter.

Bearers will be Henry Yergee, Terry Gibson, Chester Ray Gibson, Steven Hames, James Gibson and Lester Gibson. Honorary bearers will be Damian Balthrop, Chris Hames and Clayton Gibson.
