BOB TURNEY
ADA-Memorial services for Robert Franklin "Bob" Turney, 78, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Rev. Linda Snelling will officiate.
Mr. Turney died Monday, January 13, 2014 at a Shawnee hospital. He was born April 3, 1935 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Earl Benjamin and Lorena Lucille Lacer Turney. While his father was stationed in Japan, Bob attended the 8th and 9th grade at Yokohama, Japan. He and his family moved back to Anadarko where he graduated from Anadarko High School.
In 1953, he joined the U. S. Army Reserves. From 1954 to 1956 he served in Korea. He was discharged in 1962 as a First Lieutenant. Mr. Turney married Janie Adkins in 1962. He spent several years as a manager of T. G. & Y. Stores before moving to Ada in 1974 to work with his brother-in-law, Dan Clemons. For the last several years he has worked for Nichols Dollar Saver. Mr. Turney was a longtime active member of Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Kim Turney of Stillwater; a son, Kevin Turney of Ada; and a brother, Ronald Turney of Pompano Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Shirley Turney.
