ADA-Services for Rita Mary Troska, 69, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Father Rusty Hewes will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Troska died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at a local nursing home. She was born October 2, 1941 in Beemer, Nebraska to Herman and Agnes Hunke Suhr. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in West Point, Nebraska in 1959. She attended St. Mary's College in Omaha, Nebraska for one year before entering Creighton St. Joseph's Nursing School where she graduated in 1963. She worked at St. Joseph's hospital for six years before she met her husband who was a resident at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She married Joe Troska on June 27, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska. They came to Ada in 1971. From 1971 to 1993 she remained at home and cared for her family. After her children graduated from high school and went to college, she worked at Valley View Regional Hospital as an RN in the heart cath lab. She retired in January, 2005. After her retirement she became active in the volunteer group at Valley View Regional Hospital which she enjoyed immensely. She was a member and very active at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a member of the Ada Music Club, an avid fitness buff and participated in the isometric swimming class at ECU for several years.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Dr. Joe Troska, of the home; her children, Brian Troska and wife Carrie of Austin, TX, Jeana Sutton and her husband Jerry of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Kyle and Michael Sutton and Carter Troska; three sisters, Virginia Carlson of Simla, CO, Sister Karen Suhr of Manitowac, WI and Sister Rita Mae Suhr of Manitowac, WI; two brothers, Wayne Suhr and wife Diane, Livermore, CA and Daniel Suhr and wife Veronica of West Point, NE; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Patrick Suhr.
Bearers will be Bob Cristelli, Jack Allen, Jack Ritchie, Nick Cheper, Dr. Jerry Morgan and Jeff Hayes.
