Rita Floyd

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on March 3 prior to the funeral service at Ada First Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Floyd passed away on February 20, 2025, in Stillwater, OK. She was born on October 18, 1939, in Holdenville, OK to Lee Roy Glenn Moore and Pauline Lay Moore.
Mrs. Floyd graduated from Holdenville High School in 1957 and married Johnny Monroe Floyd on June 29, 1957, at the Holdenville Church of the Nazarene. While being the mother of two children, she attended East Central State College in Ada, OK and graduated in 1973 with the highest honors with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music - Piano and Vocal. Before, during and after graduating, she taught piano lessons in Ada for over 35 years. She loved working with her piano students, eventually retiring from teaching in the mid 1990's.
Mrs. Floyd grew up in rural areas of Seminole county and then moved to Holdenville for her high school years. She and Johnny moved to Ada in 1960, making it their long-time home. She moved to Stillwater in September 2023 to be closer to family. She was an unwavering cornerstone of the Ada Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years, having served as the pianist for the church for almost that entire time. Mrs. Floyd was also involved locally with the Salvation Army and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise Stroud and her husband, Terry; her son Mark Floyd and his wife Devin; four grandchildren, Adam Stroud, Daniel Stroud, Drew Floyd and Hayley Floyd Haynes; and five great-grandchildren, Josiah Stroud, Bridger Stroud, Benjamin Haynes, Cleo Floyd and Gracie Haynes. We are all grateful for her incredible godly influence and her example of love for one another.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Johnny Monroe Floyd; her parents Lee Roy and Pauline Moore; and an infant sister, Ramona Moore.
Bearers are Terry Stroud, Adam Stroud, Daniel Stroud, Mark Floyd and Drew Floyd.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Ada Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 1260, Ada, OK 74820.
