RICHARD RUSSELL
ALLEN-Services for Richard W. Russell, 74, Allen, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Allen, Rev. Chad Kaminski will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until service time.
Mr. Russell died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at an Allen nursing home. He was born December 11, 1934 at Allen, Oklahoma to James Clifton and Velma Lucille Sales Russell. He graduated from Allen High School in 1954.
He married Wanda Fern Bratcher on November 11, 1972 in Oklahoma City. Mr. Russell was employed with Tinker Air Base for two years and retired as an oilfield driller. He also owned a car-lot. He and his wife moved back to Allen in 1987. Mr. Russell was a member of the Allen First Baptist Church, the Allen American Legion and had served in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Russell, of the home; three children, Michael Russell and wife Deanna, Allen, Lisa Marlene Cox, Noble, and Perry Wayne Cox, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Maegan Russell, Mason Russell, Denton Russell, Tabitha Cox Murray and husband Cody, Devin Cox, and Tanya Atchley; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard Clifton Russell, and a grandson, Kristopher Cox.
Bearers will be H. C. Spain, Willis Rinehart, Ben Lewis, Brenton Lewis, Eric Halcum and Jearl Knighten. Honorary bearers will be Leonard Iker and Delwayne Johnson.
