RICHARD NEWLUND

ADA-Services for Richard Craig Newlund, 83, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, Rev. Kenny Morrison will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Newlund died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at an Ardmore Veterans Center. He was born January 26, 1927 at Hugo, Oklahoma to V. L. and Beulah Ames Newlund. He was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Ada High School in 1945.

He married Wanda Deloras Dveney on December 7, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2009 in Ada. Mr. Newlund was an ironworker with Local Union and also owned and operated Rick's Auto Salvage until 1981. He was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Donald Newlund, Ardmore; two daughters, Rebecca Thomas and husband Randy, Ozark, MO, and Lynn Miller and husband Bobby, Edmond; four grandchildren, Kelly Rude and husband Chris, Phillip Nelson, Steven Newlund and Jenny Newlund; a great grandson, Nicholas Rude; a sister, Joann Sage, Port Orchard, WA; a sister-in-law, Leota McDaniel, Atwood, brother-in-law, Richard Deveney, Ada, and a sister-in-law, Linda Farris, Ada.

Bearers will be Robert West, Robert Betts, Terry Winters, Roger Hughes, Raymond Miller and Billy Easly.
