Richard E. L. Anderson, Sr.

Memorial services for Richard E. L. Anderson, Sr., 67, of Allen are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Allen Church of Christ, Rev. Buddy Drake and Mark Legg will officiate.

Mr. Anderson passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his home. He was born August 19, 1952 at Flagstaff, AZ to Leamon and Isabelle Gardner Anderson. He was a Supervisor for Heinz Company in Tracey, CA and moved to Allen about 21 years ago.

He married Joyce Struck June 9, 2012 in Frankford, IN. Mr. Anderson raised pigeons, enjoyed woodworking, making flutes and walking canes and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Anderson served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Anderson, of the home; his children, Richard Anderson, Jr. and wife Rita, San Leandro, CA, Jimmy Anderson and wife Loana of Georgia, Jamie Gutzmer and Michael Sudduth, Hartshorne, Robert Gutzmer and wife Jen, Rochester, NY, and Stephen Brown, Salt Lake City, UT; two sisters, Robyn Talley and husband Jack and Cathy Parks, both of California;  eight grandchildren, Antonio Umpierre, Hartshorne, OK; Sean Brown, McKenzie Brown, Peyton Brown, all of Utah; Jason Gutzmer and Mathew Gutzmer, both of New York; Braxton Anderson, Utah and Nathaniel Anderson of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Vietnam Veterans Association.
