Obituary

Richard Franklin was born to Arnold and Ruby (Lewis Pettigrew) Franklin on September 13, 1955. He was the fourth child born to this marriage. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers and one sister, Ava Talton.
Richard attended Napier Elementary School before it closed and graduated from Byng High School in 1973. Shortly after graduating from high school, Richard enlisted in the Army. After two years of active duty, Richard received an honorable discharge from the Army. He then returned home to Ada, Oklahoma.
Richard worked as a common laborer for a while; mowing lawns and fixing roofs. Richard also worked at Bob's Bar-B-Que for several years. In the early 1990's, Richard became disabled. Richard loved to cook, fish, and play checkers. Richard also found great enjoyment in the company of his family and friends.
On January 8, 2012, Richard passed from this earth at his home. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: one daughter, Domiqua Farris of Duluth, GA; two grandchildren, Dejanae Humphrey and Cameron Hollins, both of Duluth, GA; three brothers, William Edward Franklin of Ada, Wade Wright and his wife Lillie of Pauls Valley, and Clint Wright of Chandler, OK; four sisters, June Walker and her husband Phillip of Midwest City, Juanita Walker and her husband Dale of Ada, Haley Wright of Ada, and Glenda Price of Chandler, OK; one aunt, Joyce Scott of Purcell, OK; one uncle, Frank Wright of Ada, OK; three nephews, William Franklin, Jr. and his wife Kendra of Ada, OK, David Blue and his wife Monica of Ada, OK, and Christopher Blue of San Francisco, CA; four nieces, Ruby Hightower of Oklahoma City, OK, Deanna Hightower of Midwest City, OK, Sherra Blue and Emenike Whitfield of Tulsa, OK, and Erica Lewis of Moore, OK; an adopted niece, Stacy Thomas of Midwest City, OK, and a host of great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.
