RICHARD BARNES
FITZHUGH-Services for Richard Lee Barnes, 83, Fitzhugh, are 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Roff First Baptist Church, Rev. Steve Wilburn officiating. Burial follows at East Hill Cemetery in Roff.
Mr. Barnes died on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his home. He was born December 28, 1926, in Seminole County to Vener Arlington and Willie Clement Barnes. He graduated from Roff High School and lived in this area all his life. Mr. Barnes served in the U. S. Army during the Korean war. He was a farmer and also owned and operated Barnes Sanitation for 32 years, serving Pontotoc, Coal, Pottawatomie and Garvin counties. He was a member of Roff First Baptist Church.
He married Phyllis Correne Campbell on March 21, 1953, in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Barnes, of the home; a son, Jimmy Barnes and wife Debbie, Konawa; four grandchildren, Travis DeWayne Barnes, Ada; Travis Stanberry, Coalgate; Troy Stanberry, Moore; and Trent Stanberry, Konawa; a sister, Charlene Gurley, Ada; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Haskell Ray Barnes, and a son, Terry Wayne Barnes.
Bearers are Gary Price, Dean Price, Tim Shelton, Johnny Barnes, Richard Barnes and Charles Hisaw.
