REBA ROGERS
KONAWA-Memorial services for Reba "Miss Reba" Rogers, 88, of Konawa are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Konawa United Methodist Church, Rev. Roger Wood will officiate. A Private burial service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada at a later time.
Mrs. Rogers died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at a Shawnee nursing home. She was born January 21, 1925 in Ada, Oklahoma to William Otis and Bessie M. Pettet Jones. She attended Ada schools.
She married Edward H. Rogers in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Rogers apprenticed with her Aunt Gladys Kilpatrick, of Gladys' Beauty Salon, then worked for her for many years.
In the sixties, Reba opened her own beauty salon in her home in Ada. Later, she and her family moved to Konawa, where she owned and operated her own salon until 2008. She was a 60 year member of the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology. In 2003, she was recognized for her many contributions to the City of Konawa.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Bea J. Morgan of Palm Desert, CA; her sister-in-law, Ila Jones of Reno, NV; a cousin, Mrs. Peter S. Durso of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family, Jerry Davis, Jeff and Tina Davis and Connor Davis, all of Ada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Lillie Mae Jones; her husband; a brother, Roy Lee Jones; her son, Larry Rogers in 1980; and extended family member, Patricia Davis in 2012.
Honorary bearers will be Wimpy Poston, Carl "Edd" Wyatt, Jerry Davis, Jeff Davis and Connor Davis.
