R.C. Pogue

Graveside services for R.C. Wesley Pogue, 88, of Oakman will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Oakman Cemetery, with Rev. Richard Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Pogue passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 28, 2025. Born on September 21, 1936, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to Richard Coleman and Reba May James Pogue, Mr. Pogue lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to his family and community.

A graduate of Haileyville High School, Mr. Pogue proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957, stationed in Japan. He was a skilled carpenter and he also enjoyed gardening.  His gardens served his entire family and many others.

On August 1, 1959, Mr. Pogue married Velma "Ruth" Joplin in Dow, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and memories for 62 years.

Mr. Pogue was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; his parents, Richard and Reba Pogue; his son, Darrell Pogue; his siblings: Lorene Stanley, Alton "Salty" Pogue, Sarah Cooper, Jane Dugger, Wayne Pogue, and William Pogue; and deceased brother-in-law, Bill Monks.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Forehand and husband, Charles Hugh of Oakman, and Carol Williamson and husband, Mike of Oakman; his son, Jimmy Pogue and wife, Lisa of Oakman; his sister, Shirley Monks of McAlester; and a large and loving extended family. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Ashley Brady and husband Zac, Stacy Brady and husband Cameron, Lindsay Kates and husband Chris, Kelsey Williamson and wife Jessie, Kortney Sutton and husband Shane, Weston Pogue and wife Amber, Ryan Pogue, and Megan Pogue, all of Ada. Mr. Pogue also cherished his great-grandchildren: Jace Brady, Aubrey Brady, Cason Kates, Kellan Kates, Kendall Kates, Camden Brady, Callen Brady, Clarke Williamson, Emmalyn Sutton, Adeline Sutton, Wesleigh Pogue, and Leighton Pogue, all of Ada.

Pallbearers will be Danny Pogue, Terry Pogue, Ronnie Pogue, Charlie Pogue, Billy Monks, and Brian Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Stafford, Brad Wofford, and Rick Lavielle.

Mr. Pogue will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His love, kindness, and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
