RAY MELTON

ALLEN-Graveside services for Ray Melton, 77, Allen, are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Allen Cemetery, Rev. Joe Howry will officiate. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Criswell Chapel in Allen from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday until service time.

Mr. Melton died Monday, May 19, 2008 at a Sulphur hospital. He was born August 6, 1930 at Mena, Arkansas to Walter and Etta Brumley Melton. He came with his family to Allen as a child from Arkansas. He attended Allen schools and graduated from Allen High School.

He married Nell Duncan on April 1, 1960. She preceded him in death on May 14, 1979. Mr. Melton was a heavy equipment operator for Pontotoc County District #1 and he had served in the U. S. Air Force.

Survivors include one son, Jim Melton, Allen; one daughter, Marilyn Kerr, Tulsa; two sisters, Alene Morris, Clinton, Tennessee, and Geraldine Bryan, Ada; a brother, Walter Melton, Jr., Oklahoma City; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bobby Melton, Chester Melton, and Medford Melton; and a sister, Marcella Castner.
