RAYVERN LOWERY, SR.
ADA-Services for Ravern L. C. "Ray" "Doc Holiday" Lowery, Sr., 67, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Famous Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at Athens Cemetery.
Mr. Lowery died Friday, January 25, 2013 at an Oklahoma City hospice. He was born August 11, 1945 at Centrahoma, Oklahoma to Leamon L. C. and Eva Louise Arthur Lowery. He grew up in this area, attended Napier grade school, graduated from Byng High School and attended East Central University.
He married Goldie Kelley on September 6, 1996 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Mr. Lowery was a fork lift operator for Brockway Glass Company. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1965 until being honorably discharged in 1968 during the Vietnam Era. He received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie Lowery, of the home; two sons, Ravern Lowery, Jr. and his wife Beatrice of Oklahoma City, and Rasheed Lowery of Ada; a step-son, Marcus Kelley and his wife Jennifer of Tulsa; five daughters, Rochelle (Shelly) Lowery of Denton, TX, Raylynn Lowery of Del City, Robin Lowery of Denton, TX, Rachel Lowery of Lewisville, TX and Raevonne Lowery Garrett and her husband Desmond Garrett, Sr. of Denton, TX; two step-daughters, Shanterial (Terri) Kelly of Texarkana, TX, and Shonda Kelley of Bethany; a sister, Marcell Shirley Murray of Oklahoma City; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Marion "Sonny" Lowery.
Bearers will be Patrick Shirley, Rasheed Lowery, T. C. Hill, Walter "Snake" Grant, Jr., Jordan Lowery, Michael King, and Kirky Blue. Flower bearers will be Andrea Moore, Kiara Lowery, Antigone Lowery, Amber Thomas, and Jeannie Curtis.
