RALPH HOLLAND
STONEWALL-Services for Ralph Douglas Holland, 83, Stonewall are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Stonewall, Revs. Dennis Heath and Kendell Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Holland died Friday, July 22, 2011 at an Oklahoma City VA hospital. He was born February 10, 1928 in Tupelo, Oklahoma to Ed and Rachel Ann Phillips Holland. He attended grade school at Pleasant Hill and Tupelo and attended high school in Bakersfield, California.
He married Faye Sweat on June 2, 1978 in Carter County, Oklahoma. Mr. Holland was a paint contractor, owned H & B Painting and Drywall and was also a rancher. He was a member of the Stonewall Free Will Baptist Church, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the American Legion Post #72. Mr. Holland served in the U. S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Faye Holland, of the home; a daughter, Cindy Martin and her husband Kendell, Wanette; a son, Craig Sweat and wife Katherine Ann, Tyler, TX; a step-daughter, Donna Sue Johnson, Kingsport, TN; his grandchildren, Wesley Sweat, Oklahoma City, Dustin Sweat, Tyler, TX, and Micah and Michelle Martin, Wynnewood; a brother, Kenneth Holland and wife Coleen, Ft. Worth, TX; a sister, Margie Gilstrap, New Waverly, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Barrett, Helen Barrett and Lois Brashears; and two brothers, Edwin Holland and Melvin Holland.
Bearers will be Micah Martin, Wesley Sweat, Stanley Gilstrap, Chris Gilstrap, Tubby Holland and Jimmie Barrett. Honorary bearers will be Jeff and Danny Gilstrap, Dustin Sweat, Buzzy May, Monte Knight, Jerry Brashears, David Brashears; and brothers in Christ at Stonewall Free Will Baptist Church.
