RALPH "FIREBALL" EVANS
ADA-Services for Ralph "Fireball" Evans, Jr., 88, Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Ada, Dr. Pat Kilby will officiate. A Private committal service will be Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Evans died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at his home. He was born November 14, 1922 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Ralph Beachem and Marie Evelyn "Georgia" Boydstun Evans. He graduated from Ada High School and East Central State Teacher's College.
He married Leona Irene Robertson on August 11, 1946. She preceded him in death on February 17, 1994. Mr. Evans taught and coached at Ada High School for two years. He and Elvan George co-wrote a weight-training book. He later was an independent Farmer's Insurance Agent and a realtor. Mr. Evans was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ada and had served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Wade Evans and wife Boogie of Ada, Wes Evans and wife Debi of Waco, TX, and Woody Evans of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Jan Evans, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Witt, Amy and Brent Boatwright, and Sam Evans; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ballard.
Bearers will be Jim Sanders, Duard Thomas, Joe Lee Walker, Gary McBroom, Larry McBroom and Terry Summers.
