Obituary

Memorial services for nineteen year old Rachel Jean Thompson of Ada will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 30 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ada.  Rachel died tragically following an automobile accident near Ada on September 25, 2017.

Rachel was born on March 17, 1998 in Ada to Mark and Debbie (Dark) Thompson. She graduated from Ada High School in 2017 and was a student at East Central University.  Rachel was employed at Vision Bank as a proof operator.

Rachel aspired to be a journalist.  She was a talented writer and loved photography. Her many beautiful photographs testify to Rachel's creativity, sensitivity and unique perspective.  Idealistic and energetic, Rachel planned to change the world.  Those who know and love Rachel have indeed been forever changed, blessed to have had her in their lives for nineteen short years.

Rachel was a lovely girl.  She could electrify a room with her smile and the force of her personality. The only thing deeper than her dimples was her great love for her family, friends, and animals. Having no tolerance for unkindness, she fiercely defended others, championed human rights and animal rights. Rachel embraced life with uncommon bravery, determined to be her own authentic person. And indeed she was beautifully unique, and cherished by many just as she was.

Rachel is survived by her parents Mark and Debbie Thompson of Ada, her grandmother Nancy Thompson of Ada, her brothers Bobby Thompson of Stillwater and Ryan Thompson of Ada. She is also survived by a large extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Bob Thompson of Ada and her grandparents Bert and Jeanne Dark.
