R. B. BURNETT
JOPLIN, MO-Services for R. B. Burnett, 87, of Joplin, MO, formerly of Ada, OK are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Burnett died Monday, February 17, 2014 at a Joplin, MO nursing home. He was born July 31, 1926 in Summerfield, Oklahoma to Pat and Sadie Slocum Burnett. He grew up and graduated from Fitzhugh, OK High School and attended East Central University in Ada.
He married Audrey E. Beasley. R. B. retired from the United States Air Force as a MSgt. He served his country for 24 years, and was a World War II Veteran surviving the invasion of Okinawa. After his retirement from the USAF, R. B. worked at Tinker Air Force Base where he worked for twenty years and later retired. He and his wife were avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Audrey Burnett, of the home; three sons, Randell Burnett and wife Cheryl, Ronald Burnett and Bryant Burnett and wife Kimberly; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers.
