R.B. ARCHER, JR.
ADA-Services for R. B. Archer, Jr., 90, Ada, formerly a longtime resident of Stratford are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Frank Trent and Earl Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow at McGee Cemetery near Stratford. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Archer died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born January 9, 1921 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Robert Benjamin and Zelan Gray Archer. He attended Stratford schools and graduated from Stratford High School.
He married Bonnie Standridge on October 7, 1939. Mr. Archer was employed with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS during World War II. Later, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base and had also owned an auto supply store in Stratford. He was also a rancher in the Stratford area. Mr. Archer was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Stratford. He and his wife moved to Ada about 7 years ago from Stratford. He was an accomplished musician who performed on radio, and with Big Bands of the 1930's.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Archer, of the home; two sons, Ted Archer and his wife Alice of Lawton and Charles Archer and his wife Ann of Oklahoma City; one brother, Bill Archer and his wife Dorothy Jean of Oklahoma City; several grandchildren; and several nieces.
Bearers will be Robert Archer, Ray Archer, Jimmy Madden, Lowell Wren, Stewart Johnson, and Roger McClure.
