JAN STURDEVANT
ADA-Services for Priscilla Jan Sturdevant are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Revs. Rodger Arter and Jamie Perry will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Sturdevant died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at a Tulsa hospital. She was born January 31, 1953 at Altus, Oklahoma to Herbert Walter "Hub" and Johnnie Mozelle Gunter Schornick. She graduated from Byng High School in 1970 and received a Bachelor's degree and Masters of Education from East Central University.
She married Billy Wayne Sturdevant on December 28, 1971 at Ada. Mrs. Sturdevant was a teacher for the Ada School System from 1973 until 1982, East Central University from 1982 until 1991, and the Byng School System from 1993 until retiring in 2009. She was the Cheer Coach at Ada and Byng High Schools for many years. Mrs. Sturdevant was a member of the Byng Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Sturdevant, of the home; a daughter, Rachelle Sturdevant, Nashville, TN; a son, Drew Sturdevant, Wichita, KS; two sisters, Charlene Wiseman, Prague and Pat Cox and her husband Dale, Ada; two brothers, Michael Schornick and his wife Judy, Norman, and David Schornick and his wife Betty, Tuttle; numerous nieces and nephews; and dozens of 'adopted daughters' from her former cheerleading, basketball and softball teams.
Bearers will be Judy Schallhorn, Lynne White, Juanita Matthews, Elizabeth Smith, Leahna West, Linda Lancaster and Deborah Cornelison.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, In Memory of Jan Sturdevant, Southwestern Regional Medical Center, 10109 E. 79th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74133.
