Phoebe Grace Knouse
August 15, 1937 – June 8, 2015.
Phoebe was born on August 15th, 1937 in Alto, Texas. She was the second of three daughters born to Clarence R. and Helen M. Quarles. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class, and went on to attend Scott and White Hospital's Nursing Program in 1955.
On August 15th, 1957, she married her husband Wayne Edward Knouse. They went on to have 4 children together. For most of her career as a nurse, Phoebe worked in the OB/GYN department at Valley View Hospital in Ada, where for many years she served as supervisor, until her retirement. After her retirement, she moved to Florida in 1998. She passed away in Palm Bay, Florida on June 8th, 2015.
Phoebe will forever be remembered by her devoted husband of over 57 years Wayne Knouse, her beloved children Helen Baskin, Fay Henderson, and John Knouse, her treasured grandchild Katy Stoll and great-grandchildren Halyn and Bricyn Stoll, her beloved sister Mary Earley, her cherished longtime friend and co-worker Linda Eager, and many other countless and beloved friends and family who were blessed to have known her.
Phoebe was preceded in death by her son Wayne Edward Knouse Jr. in December of 1971. The family takes comfort in knowing she has finally been reunited with him. She was also preceded in death by her sister Albertine Click.
Phoebe loved cooking, shopping, reading, being with her family, and anything she could do to help others. She touched the lives of so many people with her kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for everyone she knew.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 2:00pm in the chapel at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada.
