Services for Philip Matison Johnston, 93, of Jones, formerly of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Choctaw Church of Christ, 14998 E. Reno Ave., Choctaw. A Committal Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
Mr. Johnston passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 at a Midwest City care center. He was born March 22, 1926 in Ada to Oscar Fritz and Mildred Grace Cole Johnston. He graduated from Ada High School in 1944. He served in the U. S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and also in Korea.
He married Sylvia Lee October 28, 1954. She preceded him in death November 14, 2006. Mr. Johnston retired as a Vice-President of the First National Bank in Oklahoma City. He also served as the City Treasurer for the town of Jones for many years, retiring in 2014. He was a member of the Choctaw Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Philip Johnston, Jr. and Joe Allen Johnston, both of Jones; his grandchildren, Rachel Wittick and husband Trevor and Benjamin M. Johnston; two great-grandchildren, Addilyn Wittick and Harper Wittick; and three nieces, Nanette Frank and husband Dan, San Diego, CA, Marianne Moncrief, Wichita Falls, TX, and Carol Chase and husband John, Tyler, TX.
Honorary bearers will be Jack Hoag, Bud Williams, Charlie Parker and Joe Doolin.
