REV. PETER WALL, JR.
ADA-Services for Rev. Peter James Wall, Jr., 82, Ada are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Haskins will officiate and be assisted by Rev. Steve Wall. Burial will follow at High Hill Cemetery. The Choctaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Rev. Wall died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born February 15, 1928 at Albion, Oklahoma to Peter James Wall, Sr. and Isbell Noah Wall.
He has also lived at Tishomingo, Davis, Sulphur, San Jose area of California and most recently at Ada, Oklahoma. He graduated from Albion High School in 1947.
Rev. Wall served as a sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict and earned the Combat Infantry Award, Asiatic Pacifica Campaign Award, Korean Service Award, Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in 1952.
He married Mary Lois Brown in 1952 at Fort Smith, Arkansas. She preceded him in death in August 1995. He later married Gale A. Abbott on April 25, 1998 at Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Fittstown.
Rev. Wall started Baptist churches in San Jose, CA, Tishomingo and Madill, OK and pastored other churches at Sulphur, Fittstown and Ada, OK. Most recently he was pastor emeritus of Archard Road Baptist Church, Madill.
Survivors include his wife Gale Wall, of the home; a daughter, Denise Barnhart and husband Joe, Valley Springs, CA; a son, Rev. Stephen Gene Wall, Ardmore; stepchildren, Kent Abbott and wife Jalee, Hydro, OK, Becky Abbott Thrift and husband David, Piedmont, OK, Victoria Abbott Tribble and husband Michael, Piedmont, OK, and Daniel Abbott and wife Gloria, Hydro, OK; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sixteen step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters, Justine, Emaline, Pauline, Melba Jean, Thelma and Reba.
Bearers will be Bryce Wall, Wyatt Wall, Carl Marris, Lloyd Parnacher, Johnny Wallace and Charles James. Honorary bearers will be the pastors of the Chi-Ka-Sha Baptist Association churches.
