A Celebration of the Life of Pauline Brown

Services for Pauline Brown, 90, of Stonewall, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Chickasaw Community Center, Rev. Osborne Roberts and Rev. Alan Beck will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery.  Wake service will be held at 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown was born July 22, 1931 in Luffy Chapel, OK to Frank and Murtle Gipson Carpenter.

She was married to Wilson James Brown.  Mrs. Brown received her Associates Degree and was an L.P.N. for the Chickasaw Nation.

Survivors are her three daughters, LaDonna Brown, of the home, Gina Brown, Ada and Lisa John and husband Thomas, of Ada; one sister, Paula Carney, Coalgate; eight grandchildren, Adrian Smith, Chilah Brown, Edward Brown, Tara Dorsey, Jared Walker, Jalena Walker, Lauren John and Trevor John; eight great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Milton "Buzz" Brown; grandson, Daniel Walker; brothers, Albert Carpenter, Benjamin Carpenter, Anderson Shields and George Carpenter; and sisters, Beatrice Tekubie and Dorene Carpenter.

Mrs. Brown lived a blessed 90 years and 9 months. She loved her family and relatives and never knew a stranger. She spent many years educating others about Chickasaw culture and traditions. Sewing Chickasaw regalia and making crafts is how she spent many hours a day. But her love was the Chickasaw culture and language. She was a product of the federal boarding school era, yet she overcame their attempts to rid of her of the language. She enjoyed times she spent speaking Chickasaw and singing Choctaw Hymns with other fluent speakers. Mrs. Brown loved to laugh and tell jokes. On April 27, 2022 she took her final breath on this earth and began her new life with her Father in Heaven celebrating and laughing with family, friends and her Chickasaw relatives.
