PAUL SANDMANN
ADA-Services for Paul W. Sandmann, 84, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Ada, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at the Coalgate Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Sandmann died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Sherman, Texas. He was born June 21, 1926 at Cottonwood, Oklahoma to Fred and Elizabeth Creber Sandmann. He attended schools in Coalgate and graduated from Coalgate High School. He received a Bachelor's degree from East Central College in Ada and a Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
He married Margaret Ann Lanoy on December 6, 1947 in the home of the bride's parents. Mr. Sandmann was a School teacher and Principal at Elmore City and later was employed with Vocational Rehab in Ada until his retirement in 1988. After retirement he enjoyed ranching and fishing with his wife and grandkids. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served in the U. S. Army during World War II from October 1944 until July 1946. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Sandmann, of the home; a son, Timothy Lee Sandmann and his wife Susan of McKinney, TX; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sandmann of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons, Travis Sandmann, Ross Sandmann and Ryan Sandmann; granddaughters, Elizabeth Sandmann and Amy Sandmann; and a brother, Charles Sandmann and his wife Phyllis of Oklahoma City, OK.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Michael Sandmann; a brother, John Frederick Sandmann; and sister, Margaret Elizabeth Larecy.
Bearers will be Wendell Gurley, Floyd Gurley, Jerry Miller, Andy Hood, Buddy Watkins and Gene Poorman.
