Obituary

Patsy A. "Pat" Morgan

Patsy A. "Pat" Morgan was born August 2, 1932 in Abilene, TX to Aquilla Davis and Goldie Cantrell Davis.  She passed away August 9, 2025 at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Ada with her loving husband by her side.

Pat lived her early years in Hamlin, TX and her father died when she was just 4 ½ yrs. old.  Shortly after his death she and her mother moved to Del Rio, TX where her mother purchased a flower shop.  After that they moved to Houston, TX and lived with her aunt and uncle for several years.  By the time she was a teenager her mother got a job in Dallas and she graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1950.

After high school she moved to Longview, TX where she went to work as a secretary in an insurance office.  She worked there until she moved to Ada in 1952 where she remained for the rest of her life.

She worked until Cindy was born and then became a stay-at-home mom for the next 12 years until Cindy started junior high school.  During this time, she was a beloved Bluebird and Campfire Leader for many years.  She was very involved with the Camp Fire Organization in Ada, always helping with Camp DaWaSee Day Camp every summer.

She was an active member and one-time president of the PTA organization at Willard School for the entire 6 years that Cindy attended.  She was the ultimate home-room mom.  She showed up for everything and always volunteered her time for anything Cindy was involved in.

She was a long-time "Pink Lady" at Valley View Hospital, now Mercy Hospital in Ada.  She held every position in that organization including President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer for the Volunteer Auxiliary.  When she "retired" from her volunteer work at the hospital she had logged more than 15,000 hours, an accomplishment she was honored for and was very proud of.

She loved to sew and made most of Cindy's clothes along with a few articles of clothing for other people as well.  If she came to your baby shower you could be guaranteed to receive one of her gingham-checked baby blankets.  She was an excellent seamstress.

She also was a master chef and was well-known for her cakes, pies, and Christmas candies which she made and shared with her family and friends.  She received requests over the years for some of her best cakes and pies.  Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were her favorites.  She would start preparing and freezing food at least a week ahead and always served these meals on a beautifully set table complete with linen tablecloths and special China and hand-polished silverware.

She also loved to bowl and was very good at it.  She bowled one night a week in the Women's Bowling League at the old Strike and Spare Lanes in Ada for many years.

When Cindy started Junior High School, she went back to work as a Secretary for Garrett Book Company in Ada.  She worked until she and Vern got married.

On July 27, 1979 she and Vernon were married in Ada.  They just celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.  They were truly meant for one another.  You rarely saw one without the other.  They moved to "the country" where Vernon raised horses and together, they had a big beautiful garden full of every vegetable you could imagine.  She learned to can their crops and freeze what she didn't can.  If you had a meal at their home, you were sure to eat from their garden which she was very proud of.  Gardening and canning became a favorite past time every summer.

She and Vernon became grandparents in 1982 when Tara was born.  She became known as "Nana" which was her favorite name of all.  They added Tracy, Chas and Clayton to the list of grandchildren.  She will forever be known as Nana to all of Tara and Tracy's friends.

Her favorite hobby was shopping.  She was very good at it too!! She and Vernon would often drive to the Shawnee Mall and spend the day shopping and eating out at a favorite restaurant.  When granddaughter Tracy began working at Stage in Ada, she made several trips a week to Stage to shop.  She always brought home a bargain she had found.

She also loved Ada Cougar Football and during Cindy's junior high and high school years she would load up her car and drive Cindy and her friends to all the out-of-town games.  Up until a couple of years ago she was at every home football game.  It wasn't necessarily that she loved football, she just loved going to the games to people watch!

She enjoyed traveling with Cindy to Mary Kay events/meetings, especially if Cindy was speaking.  She made several trips to Lubbock and other cities to support her daughter in business.  She also became her part-time office assistant for many years.  She wouldn't take money for her work, only skin care and makeup!  She would often call and ask if there was something she could do because she was running out of lipstick or eyeshadow!!

She never missed an event that the girls were involved in…dance recitals, band concerts, plays, pageants, band competitions, Cougann competitions, etc.  If they were performing, you knew Nana would be there.

She and Vernon enjoyed traveling to Branson, train trips to Texas to visit one of her best friends from high school, trips to Arlington to attend Texas Ranger baseball games, road trips to visit JoAnn and family when they lived in California, going to all the music shows at the McSwain Theater, and especially Sunday night pizza with their church group at Mazzios.  She loved the monthly birthday lunches with her women's group.

She also loved going out to eat, often times with her family.  Up until her stroke a year ago in June, she and Vernon made Burger King their favorite lunch spot, often eating there 5 times a week.

The stroke left her paralyzed on her right side and she could no longer walk so she moved in with Cindy and Thomas across the street from her home, so they could help care for her.  Vernon was by her side every single day from morning till night.  He also continued to bring in Burger King for her almost every day.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Vernon Morgan of the home, daughter Cindy and husband Thomas Ramsey and granddaughter Tara and husband Jeremy Burns, all of Ada, Vernon's daughter JoAnn  Meyer and husband Charles of Tomball, TX and their sons, Chas Meyer of Tomball, TX and Clayton Meyer of Baltimore, MD, and one brother-in-law Vaden Morgan, of Ada.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tracy Nicole Holman on August 28, 2017.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Southwest Church of Christ with Mr. Butch Platt and Rev. David Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to Tracy.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hatton, Dusty Dennis, Brent Lowe, Kevin Bell, David Hendricks, and Vaden Morgan.  Honorary bearers will be Larry Darbison, Jerry Miller, and Bill Hart.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home.
