PATSY YOUNG

ADA-Services for Patsy Ida Mae Young, 71, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, her brother, Rev. David Lee Fortner will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, near Lula. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Young died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at her home. She was born February 18, 1939 at Lula, Oklahoma to James Marvin and Beatrice Vera Brooks Fortner. Her family always lived in the Lula area where she attended Lula grade school, Ada schools and graduated from Lula High School. She received a double Master's degree in Elementary Education and Home Economics from East Central University.

She married Simon Young on February 17, 1957. Mrs. Young was a teacher at Vanoss School for over 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ada, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Pontotoc County Retired Educators, a Volunteer at the Pregnancy Crisis Center, and she was published in Best Poems of 1996.

Survivors include her husband, Simon Young; a daughter, Elane Wiggins and her husband, David, Buffalo Gap, Texas; a son, Clay Young and his wife, Jana, Ada; her mother, Beatrice Fortner, Ada; four grandchildren, Kelsey and Brooke Marsh, Buffalo Gap, Texas, and Colton and Krisha Young, Ada; a sister, Joy Baker, Ahloso; and three brothers, Kenneth Fortner, Lula, Ellis Fortner, Lula, and David Lee Fortner, Canton, TX.

She was preceded in death by her father, and a brother, Dennis Fortner.

Bearers will be Scott Fortner, Brad Fortner, Travis Fortner, Kenny Fortner, David Wayne Fortner and Scott Ahern.
