Patricia Bonar

Patricia Mae Phelps Bonar was born Oct. 5, 1928, at Konawa, OK and died Mar. 27, 2016 at Ada, OK. A life celebration service will be at 11 am Saturday April 2 at Ada First Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. Burial precedes at 10 am at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday, April 1, at Criswell Funeral Home.

Pat is survived by her sister, Marian Dozier of Austin TX. and Pat's 5 children: Susie Stringfield, Bruce Bonar, Melissa Cantrell, Barry Bonar and Margie Bull. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H Bonar, her parents, Donald D. and Vera Phelps, a brother, Eugene D. Phelps. "PatPat" has 16 grandchildren and 19 great grand children. Grandsons will be pall bearers.

Pat & Joe H. Bonar married June 10, 1948 in Ada, OK.. Joe died Oct. 9, 2004. Pat played tennis well, winning several Ada Hard Rock Tournament divisions. She enjoyed conversation, music, cards, dominos but especially family and friends. Pat earned a teaching degree from East Central, substitute taught, was Horace Mann school secretary and was Ada City School Board President in 1983. Pat had many good friends from church, community and Baptist Village. Joe & Pat enjoyed traveling to Bahamas, Hawaii, Italy, Switzerland, Mexico, England, Scotland and Sanibel Island, FL was a favorite spot.

Pat was energetic, enthusiastic, a good conversationalist and always ready to travel, go to a program or a party. She danced to the beat of any music and encouraged others to join in. She enjoyed a life well played. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Tennis court resurfacing Oak Hills CC or to Ada Baptist Village.
