Patricia Ann
Otto
December 9, 1942 – July 19, 2021
Patricia Ann Otto was born December 9, 1942 to Jessie Leola and Arthur Eldon Jones in Ada, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from Byng High School in 1960. From there she married Robert Andrew Otto; also of Ada, Oklahoma and began a family, she had 3 sons Arthur David Otto, Mark Andrew Otto, Matthew Allen Otto.
She always knew she wanted to become a nurse, and began that journey at Valley View Hospital School for Vocational Practical Nurses and graduated with her VPN in 1965. She joined the United States Marine Corps as a nurse to serve her country. After leaving the United States Marine Corps she began working on a Master's Degree in Nursing from The University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1980.
In 1984 her and her husband moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. She began work as the Program Director of the Tuberculosis Elimination Clinic for Nueces County in 1984 and remained there until her retirement in 2009. This was her passion; this was what she was truly amazing at. She cared so deeply for each of her co-workers, for her patients, for fighting this awful infectious disease. She was an advocate and a force to be reckoned with.
Corpus Christi, Texas is where they fell in love with the ocean, the birds, the people, and their new found way of life, as Texans. This is where her and Robert loved and raised their Granddaughter Amanda Grace Marshall.
This is where her love and compassion for saving animals blossomed. She was always known for taking in any animal that needed a loving home. She was the woman to call if there was an animal or person in need. There was nothing she wouldn't do to help. This was one of the most beautiful and profound things about her. She was a mother and a caregiver to an abundance of kids, people and animals. To her core, helping was all she knew.
Only a few short years after retiring the early stages of Alzheimer's began to show, she was as stubborn in her diagnosis as she was in life. She fought the hardest battle of her life to maintain her independence until 2018 when the disease progressed to the point that we brought her back to her home state of Oklahoma where her son David and granddaughter Amanda could care for her and she could see her great grand babies. She loved all of her grand babies and great grand babies with everything she had, they were the biggest joy of her life, aside from Elvis Aaron Presley the one true love of her life. She spent the last months of her life surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren until The Lord took her home on July 19, 2021 to join everyone she loved that had passed before her.
She was preceded in death by both parents-Jessie Leola and Arthur Eldon Jones, both grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles - namely her Aunt "Pug" and Uncle Lefty, and her sister Judy Kay Smith. She is survived by her children Arthur David Otto, Mark Andrew Otto, And Matthew Allen Otto; her Grandchildren Amanda Grace Marshall, Allison Otto, Ryan Otto and Max Otto; her great grandchildren Mason Paul Marshall and Kaleb Dean Marshall; her brother William Smith and niece Samantha Smith of New Jersey and more friends than can be counted.
For those who would like to attend or send flowers, her services will be held at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, Oklahoma on August 7, 2021 at 10am.
