ADA-Services for Dr. Norman Frame, 80, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Ada, Rev. David L. Daniel will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Dr. Frame died Friday, June 13, 2014, at a Norman hospital. He was born December 21, 1933, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Horace and Fannie Cockrell Frame. He graduated from Checotah High School and attended a semester at Oklahoma Christian College which at that time was in Bartlesville. He then earned his bachelor's degree at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 1954. He continued his advanced education by earning his master's degree in education in 1959 at the University of Oklahoma and in 1963 was awarded a doctorate in elementary education, also at the University of Oklahoma.
He married Mary Ann Moon on September 28, 1979. Dr. Frame began his teaching career at Ft. Hays Kansas State University in Hays, KS. He moved to Ada in 1964 and taught 33 years at East Central University. He served as director of elementary education before he retired in 1997. He also taught elementary school methods courses in mathematics, reading, language arts and elementary curriculum. Dr. Frame made many presentations to professional groups in the state and has had numerous articles published in both state and national professional journals. Over the years he has been involved with several Ada civic projects. He was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church.
Dr. Frame was a well-respected educator and that respect was evident on November 3, 2013, when a number of colleagues, friends and family members gathered on the East Central campus to witness the unveiling of a commemorative bench at the Frank R. Crabtree, Sr. Honor Plaza. Dr. Frame's commemorative bench joined approximately 30 others.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Frame, of the home; three daughters, Tracy Frame Marino of Bixby, Holly Hawk and husband Rich of Norman, and Maridon Moon of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Tara Richardson, Megan Marino, Adison Hawk and Carson Hawk; two great- grandchildren, Abigail and Adalyn Richardson; and two brothers, W. H. "Skeet" Frame and wife Vivian, Bill Frame and wife Debbie; and a sister-in-law, Joan Frame, all of Checotah; and a host of distant relatives, friends and former colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Fannie Frame; a son, Scott Frame; and a brother, Bob Frame.
Bearers will be Dr. George Mann, Dr. Ralph Sharp, Don Kaiser, Jeremy Richardson, Rich Hawk and Tim Frame.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the East Central Foundation in memory of Dr. Norman Frame, P. O. Box Y-8, Ada, OK 74821.
