NORMA BARNES
MADISON, MS- Funeral services for Norma Nell Darbison Barnes, 70, of Madison, MS, formerly of Ada will be held at Southwest Church of Christ in Ada on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. Mr. Richard Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
Mrs. Barnes died Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was born August 29, 1942 in Atoka, Oklahoma to James Albert "Bud" Darbison and Alta Evelyn Addison Darbison. She attended and graduated from Atoka High School. She attended East Central University in Ada.
She married Grover Duane Barnes on June 2, 1961 in Atoka, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1989. She and her family moved to Jackson, MS in 1970 from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Mrs. Barnes was a Marketing Specialist for Southern Farm Bureau and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Siwell Road Church of Christ for many years.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Duane Barnes of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Brenda Ann Barnes Ashley and her husband, Jon Ashley of San Diego, California, and Mary Evelyn Barnes of Madison, Mississippi; a brother, Larry Darbison and his wife, Bobbye of Ada; and two sisters, Joan Darbison Loftis and her husband, Walt Loftis of Reedley, California and Barbara Darbison Courtney and her husband, Ralph Courtney of Edmond, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Ransom Alexander Barnes, Charles Caiman Barnes, Charly Alline Barnes, Addison Gardner Ashley and Savannah Richlyn Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Bearers will be Dr. Darrell Barnes, Charles Barnes, Jon Ashley, Addison Ashley, Kris Darbison, Mark Barnes and Larry Barnes.
