NELROSE COOPER
ADA-Services for Nelrose Pennington Cooper, 90, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper died Wednesday April 11, 2012 at her home. She was born July 28, 1921 in Ione, Arkansas to Elza C. and Eunice Lowrance Pennington. She and her family moved to this area in 1936 from Mansfield, Arkansas. She attended Mansfield grade school and graduated from Ada High School in 1939.
She married L. C. (Curtis) Cooper on January 14, 1940 in Ada. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1988 in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker and also helped her husband in his business. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Ada for over 60 years where she taught Adult and Children's Sunday school classes. Mrs. Cooper was currently a member of Lovelady Baptist Church. She was involved in activities at Hayes Elementary from 1948 until 1994 helping to raise funds for the Community Chest and was a Cub Scout Den Leader. She worked for the Pontotoc Election Board for over 50 years and was a population census taker. In the 1950's and 60's she folded cancer dressings.
Survivors include four sons, Tommy Cooper and wife Carolyn of Ada, Joe Cooper and wife Rebecca of Ft. Smith, AR, Sam Cooper of Ada, and Jack Cooper of Tulsa; one daughter, Becky Ebanks of Ada; seven grandchildren, Kelly Jo Flinn, Fittstown, Kevin Cooper, Owasso, Amy Robinette, Ada, Shea Ebanks, Grand Cayman, Penny Vazquez, Ada, Toni Ebanks, Ada, and Emily Jo Cooper, Ft. Smith, AR; nine great grandchildren, Lyndie Jo Flinn Yerby, Ryan Cooper, Randall Cooper, Eli Flinn, Haley Robinette, Drew Robinette, Sadie Ebanks, Shea Ebanks and Eric "Sooner" Black; six great great grandchildren, Faith Cooper, Annalee Cooper, Isreal Cooper, Emmalynn Cooper, Brynlee Jo Yerby and Lydia Rose Cooper; a sister, Martha Reeves, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Pennington, Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack Pennington of California and Jerry Pennington of Tulsa; and a brother-in-law, Bill Reeves.
Bearers will be her sons, Tommy Cooper, Joe Cooper, Jack Cooper and Sam Cooper; and her grandsons, Kevin Cooper and Shea Ebanks.
