MYRTLE DALE
CARBONDALE, IL-Graveside services for Myrtle Putnam Dale, 98, of Carbondale, Illinois, formerly of Tulsa are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Rosedale Cemetery. Her son, Dr. Richard R. Putnam will officiate.
Mrs. Dale died Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was born December 16, 1914 near Cleveland, Oklahoma to Robert G. and Minnie Thompson Canary. She graduated from Central Oklahoma Teachers College and received a Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.
She married Guy A. Putnam February, 1942 in Granite City, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1962 in Gilroy, California. She later married Henry Dale in 1968 at Livermore, California. Mrs. Dale was an elementary teacher for 38 years until her retirement, a Southern Baptist, and a member of the Oklahoma and California Professional Teacher's Associations. She served as a Campfire Girl Leader, 4-H Leader, and at christian youth camps.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. A. R. Putnam and his wife Sigrid H. Putnam of Pensacola, FL, and Dr. Richard R. Putnam and wife Claraalice Putnam of Ada, OK; her grandchildren, Stephany C. Koeler and husband David of Floyds Knobbs, Indiana, Joshua Putnam and wife Misti of Edmond, OK, Nathanial Putnam, New York, NY, Amanda and Adam Bowen of Oklahoma City, Vicki Mulder and husband Paul, Pleasanton, CA, and Christopher Putnam of Tempe, AZ; her great grandchildren, Anika Koeler and Ava Koeler, both of Floyds Knobbs, Indiana, Amanda Mulder and Jonathan Mulder, both of Pleasanton, CA, and Kingston Effinger of Ada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert G. and Minnie T. Canary; a sister, Rose Pierce; and two brothers, Ray Canary and Robert Canary.
