Mitchell Smith
Services for Mitchell Charles Smith, 65, of Roff are 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Stephen G. Wall will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Ballard Nursing Home in Ada. He was born March 8, 1959, in Watson, OK to Clyde Webster and Edwina Bernadette Heminger Smith.
On September 5, 1981, he married Tammy Louise Lewis at Davis, OK. He worked in IT for Carl Albert/Chickasaw Nation until his retirement.
Mitchell graduated from Sulphur High School in 1977 when he proudly won State Championship in the Class 2A 3200 meter relay. His State jacket was a treasured possession. He was selected for the All Star basketball game his senior year. In 1988, he completed a life goal by finishing the Pikes Peak marathon in Manitou Springs, CO, along with numerous marathons across several states. He had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch when it traveled through his hometown. He was an avid guitar player who once opened up for Amy Grant and Vince Gill in Seminole, OK. The greatest joy of all was when he became "Hanpaw" to seven grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family & friends and doing anything for a good laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy of the home; son, Michael Christopher Smith and wife, Rachel of Ada; two daughters, Tashina Delozier of Ada and Otokahe Redbird and husband, Dylan of Ada; two brothers, Clyde Martin Smith of Sulphur and Floyd Gene Smith and wife, Jeana of Anadarko; seven grandchildren, Naomi Coulson, Journie Redbird, Taevyn Delozier, Tobyn Delozier, Luke Smith, Tauryn Delozier, and Jaiden Redbird; and other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Glenda Lynn Watson; aunt, Helen Smith; and niece, Stephanie Carpenter.
Honorary bearers are James York, Myron Lewis, Calley Williamson, Nathan Smith, Staley Easley, Kelsey Smith, Burgess Navarro, and Michael Cornelius.
