Obituary

Services for Michael Lee Cook will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Scott White and Claude "Buddy" Baltimore officiating.  Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee.

Michael Lee Cook, age 81, passed away on April 22, 2022 at his home in Ada. He was born May 25, 1940 in Ada. He was raised loving by his parents, Silas John Hines and Martha Bland Cook. He was the oldest of five brothers.

Mike was loving, always upbeat and had a great laugh. He was always serving others and enjoyed bragging to anyone about his family and friends. Mike was always willing to be where he was needed. He enjoyed reading his Bible, Lake Texoma, his family, friends, and serving his country. Mike was a person who was full of life, never in a bad mood and never complained about being sick or injured. Mike was an example to everyone, most of the time without him even knowing it. He was faithful, loyal and most importantly a man of God.

He was longtime resident of the Ada area. After graduating from Ada High School in 1958, Mike served with the United States Army in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a current member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He worked over 40 years as chemist with the Environmental Protection Agency. He was currently a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ada.

He married Carolyn Hunsaker on January 3, 1960. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2012. He later married Gayla Wells Callaway.

Survivors include his wife, Gayla Cook, of the home; one son, Michael Cook, II and wife Terri, Newcastle; one daughter, Cari Lyn Crisp and husband Monty, Edmond; step-children, Chris and Katie Callaway; brothers, Claud Cook and wife Peggy, James Hines and wife DeeDee, sister-in-law, Kathy Hines and Butch Cook; nine grandchildren, Star, Skye, Misty, Kindra, Stori, Tara, Cody, Kennedy and Madison; and eight great-grandchildren, Indy, Wrigley, Ivy, Blake, Kindal, Addison, Emerson and Rami.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, brother Silas Hines and parents.

Bearers will be the Chickasaw National Honor Guard and Honorary Bearers will be the Diamond K Kiwanis Club.
