MERLE REED
ADA-Services for Merle A. Reed, 90, Ada, are 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Earl Hood and Ken Angel will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Reed died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at a local hospital. He was born November 18, 1918 at Ada, Oklahoma to Rex E. and Gertrude McDonald Reed. He attended Ada schools.
He married Willie Leona Ballard on October 19, 1940 at Ada, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2008. Mr. Reed owned and operated a plumbing and heat/air business in Ada until his retirement and later was a Maintenance Supervisor at Disneyland. He was a member of the Worship Center Church of God, a member of the Plumber Pipe Fitting Union, and a founding member of the Ada Hobos Club.
Survivors include a son, Gary Reed and wife Kay, Ada; a daughter, Judi Buffington and husband Bill, Tulsa; a daughter-in-law, Iris Reed, Ada; four grandchildren, Gretchen Criss and husband Derek, Tulsa, Kelly Reed and wife Shelly, Tulsa, Bart Reed and wife Shannon, Ada, and Melissa Reed, Ada; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex E. Reed and Gertrude McDonald Reed Holman, his wife, a son, Larry Reed, two brothers, and four sisters.
Bearers will be Bart Reed, Kelly Reed, Derek Criss, John Ballard, Mark Prentice, and Mike Ballard.
