AUSTIN ROBERTS
ADA-Memorial services for Melvin Austin Roberts, 76, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Jason Christopher will officiate. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Mr. Roberts died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born October 14, 1935 in Chism, Oklahoma to Harvey and Lucille Burrow Roberts. He attended the Little Red School House at Jones Chapel, west of Ada, Latta schools and graduated from Latta High School. He attended East Central University for one year.
He married Sandra Whiten on December 23, 1970. Mr. Roberts was an automobile salesman, furniture salesman and truck driver. He owned and operated Austin's Bargain Barn, used furniture sales. He was a member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church and had served in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Sandi Roberts, of the home; three sons, Ronnie Roberts of Ada, Chad Roberts of Manchester, Maryland, and Michael Roberts of Ada; one daughter, Christie Bennett and her husband Bill of Howe, OK; and six grandchildren, Austin Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Nathan Bennett, Jacob Roberts, Maitlyn Roberts and Natalee Roberts.
Honorary bearers will be Michael Cook, William Unsell, David Lytton, Jack Long, Mark Christopher and Jay Haney.
