MELVIN BENEFIEL
ADA-Services for Melvin Emory Benefiel, 80, Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Jerry States will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Benefiel died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born June 19, 1928 at Wichita, Kansas to Henry Otis and Mable Million Benefiel. He attended Seiling and Enid schools.
He married Doris Binkley on September 30, 1972. Mr. Benefiel was a fireman for the City of Enid for twenty years, retiring as a First Lieutenant in 1982. He and his wife moved to Ada in 1982 from Enid. Mr. Benefiel was a 7th Day Adventist and had served in the U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Benefiel, of the home; four step-children, Mark Roberts, Luther, Edward Roberts, Ponca City, Valerie Booth, Round Rock, TX, and Sandy Ramsey, Houston, TX; four grandchildren; one sister, Vera Benefiel, Del City; and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Loyd Benefiel of Mississippi and Glen Benefiel of England, and a sister, Letha Wood of Ames, OK.
Bearers will be Raymond Tharp, Dan Hermann, Edward Roberts, Ronald Bateman, Pat Stone, and Bruce James.
