Obituary

MELBA COTTINGHAM

ADA-Services for Melba Cottingham, 97, Ada, are 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Cottingham died Monday, February 1, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born January 25, 1913 in the Tyrola community, north of Ada to O. L. and Minnie Walker Myers. She graduated from Byng High School and East Central State Teachers College in 1933. She was proud of being a Golden Tiger.

She married Mayo Cottingham on December 15, 1935. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1990. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Nu-Way Cleaners in Ada for 35 years. She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Ada for over 50 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Carrollee Cottingham, Ada, Marjorie Ross and husband Jon, Ada, and Cathey Lamb, Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Shelley Ross Hamby and husband Jim, Ada, Max Ross, Palm Desert, CA, Teala Lamb Schwartz and husband Dave, Phoenix, AZ, and Travis Lamb, Flagstaff, AZ; great grandchildren, Kuira Ross, Palm Desert, CA, Jonathan Ross, Palm Desert, CA, Allie Schwartz, Phoenix, AZ, Samantha Schwartz, Phoenix, AZ, Alison Raymer and husband Scott, Lowell, AR, Elizabeth Thompson and husband Philip, Lowell, AR, and Kathryn Hamby, Oklahoma City; great great grandchildren, Jacy and Sasha Raymer; nephews, Charles Morrow and wife Roberta and James Morrow and wife Nancy; a niece, Barb Smith and husband Glen; other nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Essie Roark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a great grandson, Aaron Vaughn Lamb.

Bearers will be Max Ross, Travis Lamb, Dave Schwartz, Scott Vandever, Joey Morrow, Jon Ross, and Jim Hamby.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Valley View Foundation, 430 N. Monte Vista, Ada, OK; the First Baptist Church, 521 S. Broadway, Ada; or the East Central Foundation, c/o East Central University, P. O. Box Y-8, Ada, OK 74821.
