MAXINE HARRIS

FITTSTOWN-Services for Maxine Ellen "Nana" Harris, 74, Fittstown, are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.

Mrs. Harris died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at her home. She was born January 6, 1935 at Erick, Oklahoma to James Wesley and Laura Margaret McSpiritt Snow. She attended Frisco school and graduated from Stonewall High School.

She married Windell Lee Harris, Sr. on August 5, 1949 at Coalgate, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2004 at Fittstown. Mrs. Harris worked at Wrangler, was a Nurses' Aide, and later owned and operated the Panther Drive-In at Latta and Harris Quick-Stop at Fittstown. Mrs. Harris reared several foster children.

Survivors include her children, Verna Mae "Tootie" Snell and husband Steve, Fittstown, Windell "Butch" Harris and wife Helen, Fittstown, Bill Harris and wife Kim, Fittstown, Vernon Harris and wife Carol, Byng, Darrell Harris and wife Brenda, Fittstown, and Zachariah Harris, Ada; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie Britt, Benbrook, TX, and Rosa Lea Hendricks, Ada; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Sharon Kay Burris on August 10, 1998, a great grandson, Tyler McCracken; two brothers, Forrest Snow and Bobby Snow, and two sisters, Marcella Jackson and Almeda Garbaldi.

Bearers will be Leonard Daniel, Tom Daniel, Jerry Winters, Buddy Johnson, Carl Tackett, and Matt Robertson. Honorary bearers will be her grandsons.
