ADA-Maureen Frances Cavanagh Brown, 76, passed into Life Jan. 5, 2018, in the warmth of her home. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 22, 1941, to Roy Ambrose and Rosabell Mary DeMars Cavanagh.

She married Joseph James Brown Feb. 22, 1963. She thoroughly embraced being a homemaker, wife, and mother. Maureen and Joe resided in the San Diego area for 40 years. They recently moved to Ada to be near their son, Jim. Her avocations were genealogy and writing. Maureen published several short stories. She taught "Writing for Fun" at the Pontotoc Technology Center in Ada. She was a member of the Ada Writer's Club, serving as secretary.

She is survived by her son James (Jim) Joseph Brown of Ada; two sisters, Rosemary Harriott and Ann (Jim) Jarvimaki;  nieces and nephews.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, Nov. 11, 2015, her parents and  nephew, Phillip Harriott.

Per Maureen's request, her cremains will be scattered. There will be no services.
