Maude Shannon Bilbo
Maude Shannon Bilbo went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2016. A funeral service will be held at the Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, OK, on September 16, 2016 at 10 am with graveside service at 3 pm at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, OK.
Shannon was born in Caddo, OK on May 4, 1924 to Dr. Roy L. Cochran and Maudie H. Cochran. She attended elementary and high school in Caddo, OK. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. After graduation from college, she moved out to California during the height of World War 2 to marry Charles Allen Bilbo in the Wee Kirk O'the Heather chapel in Glendale, CA on September 24, 1944. As a Navy wife, they had a tremendous marriage of 52 years, which included multiple cross-country moves, amazing laughs, and an enduring love. After returning to Oklahoma in 1960, she and her family settled in Norman, OK, where she worked as a teacher before retiring in 1986. Upon retiring, she devoted her time to caring for her husband until his passing in August 1997. From then on, Shannon continued to live life to its fullest by being active in church, volunteering for community events, attending OU football games and wrestling matches. She also enthusiastically visited her bucket list countries of Russia, China, India, Ireland and Brazil. She is now once more happily reunited in Heaven with the love of her life.
Shannon was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one sister, Jean Creel of Waxahatchie, TX; her three children, Charles Roy Bilbo and his wife, Juanita, of Houston, TX; Robert Allen Bilbo and his wife, Karen Kay, of Enid, OK; and Deborah Lynn Bilbo of Norman, OK; four grandchildren, Heather Ann Astleford, of Blackstove, VA; Charles Lloyd Bilbo of Rockville, MD; Robert Wesley Bilbo and his wife,Shelley, of Ada, OK; and James Sterling Bilbo and his wife, Amy of Kansas City, MO; and seven great grandchildren, Summer Astleford, Eden Astleford, Wesley Bilbo, Brantley Bilbo, Dominic Marconi, Dimitri Marconi, and Sam Bilbo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
