MATTIE WARREN
ADA-Services for Mattie Rebecca Warren, 90, of Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Dr. Pat Kilby and Rev. John Haynes will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Warren died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her home. She was born December 30, 1921 at Mill Creek, Oklahoma to Herbert and Eula Goodson Bulman. She attended Mill Creek schools and graduated from Mill Creek High School. She received a Bachelor's degree from East Central University in Ada and a Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.
She married Wendell Jones in March 1944. He preceded her in death in October, 1944. She later married Hugh Warren on June 1, 1946 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her death on January 9, 1994. Mrs. Warren taught business at Ada High School for 40 years, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Warren was the Ada City Schools Teacher of the Year and inducted into the Ada Schools Hall of Fame. She was also in the East Central University Educator's Hall of Fame. Mrs. Warren was a member of the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Bronson Warren and his wife Allene, Ada; a sister, Grace George, Ada; a granddaughter, Heidi Grace Sivils and her husband Daniel, Owasso; two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Creighton Sivils; a granddaughter-in-law, Jayma Warren Newport; two nephews, Harris Penner, Sulphur and David Bulman, Midwest City; and two nieces, Becky Thompson, Shawnee and Suzanne Coyle, Ada.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mardelle Penner; brother, John Bulman; and a grandson, Hugh Bronson Warren, III.
Bearers will be Rick Thompson, Josh Thompson, Will Thompson, David Bulman, Harris Penner and Dewey Runyan.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Bron Warren Scholarship Fund through the East Central University Foundation, c/o East Central University, P. O. Box Y-8, Ada, OK 74821.
