MARY FERN REID

PLANO, TEXAS-Services for Mary Fern Reid, 96, Plano, formerly of Allen, Oklahoma are 1:00 p.m. Monday, at the First United Methodist Church of Allen (Oklahoma). Revs. John Marks and Anna Bridgewater will officiate. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery.

Mrs. Reid died Friday, December 21, 2007 in Plano, Texas. She was born August 25, 1911 at Quitman, Arkansas to Casabianca (C.A.) and Eliza Isabel Davis Holland. She graduated from Conway high school as Salutatorian in 1929. She completed two years at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas and later completed courses at Draughan's Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. She moved to the Allen, Oklahoma area from Appleby, Texas in 1995 and lived there until mid-2000.

She married Everett Wells Reid on December 25, 1938 in Mountain View, Arkansas. He died January 17, 1998 at Plano, Texas. She taught school for one year at Maguire and two years at Crocketts Bluff schools (Arkansas County, AR) and later worked as a secretary for Sears Roebuck and Cudahay Packing Company in Memphis, Tennessee. She also worked as an executive secretary for seventeen years with the Arkansas Rice Growers Cooperative in Stuttgart, Arkansas until her retirement. After retiring, she worked for the AR Housing Authority in Stuttgart. Mrs. Reid participated in many activities such as the PTA, coordinating Christmas pageants, organizing and leading a new 4-H Club, teaching Sunday school and serving her church and community by playing organ and piano.

Survivors include a son, Stephen Everett Reid, Plano, TX; a daughter, Kathryn Holland (Reid) Senko, Conway, AR; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many friends, relatives and caregivers.

Bearers will be Carlous West, Samuel Johnson, Charles Speir, Joe Holland, John Watson and Stephen Reid.
