KATHRYN FLOYD
ADA-Services for Mary Kathryn Floyd, 86, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Floyd died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at her home. She was born September 13, 1926 at Lula, Oklahoma to Robert Nathan and Deborah Ollie Dennis Gilstrap. She was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc County, attended Roff grade school and graduated from Roff High School. She also attended East Central University.
She married Charles Floyd, Jr. on January 18, 1946 at Roff. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2012 at Ada. Mrs. Floyd was the Jr. High Secretary at Latta School until her retirement. She was also a self-employed cake decorator. Mrs. Floyd was a 59 year member of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) Extension Homemakers and a longtime member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women's Committee (OFBWC). Being involved in OHCE and OFBWC were two of Kathryn's passions. She held various offices and worked on committees at the local, county, district and state levels. She was well known in these organizations throughout the state for her tireless contribution and her relentless determination to make a difference. Mrs. Floyd was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Manuel and her husband Troy, Kay Pinley and her husband Mike, and Sue Hamilton and her husband Gary, all of Ada; one son, Randy Floyd and his wife Debi of Ada; a sister-in-law, Juanita Lofland of Mustang; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifelong family friend, Ruby Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Robert Gilstrap and Richard Gilstrap; and one sister, Dessie Brown.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Trever Manuel, Trey Manuel, Jeremy Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Ty Floyd, J. R. Floyd, Cooper Hamilton, Richie Miller and Jason Miller. Honorary bearers will be Jim "Woody" Burns, Shelby Morgan, Phil Shivers and Larry Boggs.
