MARY ENGEL
ADA-Services for Mary Amelia Engel, 90, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Father Basil Keenan, OSB will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A Rosary Service conducted by Mike Radosevich will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Engel died Monday, February 16, 2009 at a local hospital. She was born May 10, 1918 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Martin J. and Josephine Alice Welsh Reinhart. She graduated from high school in Oklahoma City and attended Our Lady of the Lake College. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
She married Joseph M. Engel on October 22, 1940 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1988 in Ada. Mrs. Engel was a partner in the family dairy business and also in real estate sales. She was a longtime active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since the early 1950's. Mrs. Engel was one of the first members of the Colbert Homemakers Extension Club and she also served as a Democratic Delegate.
Survivors include her children, Joseph M. Engel Jr, Sulphur, Mary Ann Jimenez, Seattle, Washington, Judith S. Pruzzo and her husband Robert Hawkins, Dallas, Texas, Suze Angel, Laguna Beach, California, Patrick M. Engel and his wife Linda, Ada, Barbara L. Engel and her husband Robert Caswell, Lakehills, Texas, Alice Rose Leath and her husband James Leath, Tulsa, Nancy M. Engel and her husband Paul Brown Jr., Irvington, New York, Genevieve A. Gray and her husband Danny, Broken Bow; and Daniel M. Engel and wife Belinda, Ada; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Emrick and her husband Joe, Largo, Florida.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally M. Engel, two brothers, Paul Reinhart and John A. Reinhart; and two sisters, Frances Reinhart and Eleanor Khoury.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Eric Pruzzo, Brian Pruzzo, John Engel, Brian Engel, Ryan Engel, and Steven Jimenez.
