Marva Nell
Jackson
June 18, 1938 – January 14, 2021
Marva Nell Jackson
The world lost a beloved mother, wife, daughter, friend, and servant of God, Marva Nell (Sweat) Jackson, age 82, on January 14 th , 2021. Nell died in her home surrounded by her daughter Tracey; son-in-law, Mo; and grandchildren, Corey and Kaelyn.
Nell was born June 18, 1938 in Stonewall, OK to Allen Sweat and Lois Kerr Sweat. She was raised in the Lula community by her mother Lois and wonderful stepfather, W.B. "Bill" Lillard. She graduated from Lula school as valedictorian of her class. She worked at Colbert's Dairy where she met her husband, Oniel, who she later married on June 22, 1957 in Durango, Colorado and enjoyed 61 beautiful years of marriage. They lived briefly in Pueblo, Colorado before returning to the Ada area where Oniel worked for Holcim Cement Plant until retirement, and Nell worked in the billing department of Valley View Regional Hospital until the day they adopted their daughter Tracey, when Nell chose to become a full-time mother and homemaker.
Nell was a member of the Ada Church of the Nazarene. Her friends knew her as a kind and generous soul, always willing to cheer kids up with candy from her purse, bring baked goods to anyone who would like them, and have family and friends come together for a good meal. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, cooking, reading a good book, taking long walks with family, and had dreams of moving to a small farm again, like the cattle farm she and Oniel shared east of Ada in the 1980's.
Nell lost her husband Oniel on November 6, 2018 and deeply longed for him every day since. Her family finds some peace and comfort in knowing that she's with him now and she won't weep or mourn his loss anymore.
At Nell's request, there will be no funeral or graveside service at this time. The family will say goodbye privately, and she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Oniel at Rosedale cemetery in Ada. Once the COVID pandemic has passed, a memorial service will be arranged and announced for family and friends to attend and celebrate her life.
Survivors include one daughter, Tracey Jackson and husband Mo, one brother, Ed Sweat; four grandchildren, Corey Keeling, Kaelyn Keeling, Jon Duer and Tyler Leslie; one niece, Vanessa Sawyers; and one friend who was more like a sister, Joan Biggs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oniel C. Jackson; two sons, Kenneth A. Jackson, and Monte C. Jackson; two brothers, Waymond Lillard and Norris Lillard; one sister, Tawana Hines; and two nephews, Darcy Lillard and Wade Billings.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Mercy Hospital EMT team, the Ada Fire Department, and Dr. Benjamin Lynch who responded so quickly to the home when called, worked so hard to help Nell, and were so kind and compassionate to her devastated family during their unexpected loss of the most beautiful person they'd ever known.
